Connecting an iTechworld inverter to an Residual Current Devices (RCD)

Double insulated Floating neutral inverters with Residual Current Devices (RCD)

The new version of the iTechworld inverter (1000W, 3000W & 2000W) is double insulated. This means that the earth pin of the G.P.O is not connected.

We have wired our inverters to comply with the Australian Standard AS/NZS4763.

For an stand alone RCD to operate with iTechworld inverters, the earth connection of the RCD MUST be connected to the grounding point on the chassis; furthermore, iTechworld inverters will not operate with an RCD unless there is a (MEN) neutral-to-earth connection before the RCD.

Inverters by iTechworld are isolated per AS/NZS 4763 and do not usually require RCD protection.

Double insulation isolates the AC output active and neutral from the DC Input Supply and Chassis Earth. Floating neutral is when the output earth pin is not connected to the ground..

If an RCD is required for any reason, it must be fitted by a licensed electrician. External connection of neutral and chassis earth should be determined as appropriate or not by the licensed electrician on a specific case-by-case basis.

Residual Current Devices (RCD)

A licensed electrician must follow specific installation codes and government regulations requiring the installation of an RCD.
