The iTECHBM500 Battery Monitor with 500A Shunt

Guessing at battery voltage tells you almost nothing about how much power you've actually got left. The BM500 puts a 500A shunt in the negative line and counts every amp-hour going in and out, so the display shows real state of charge rather than a rough voltage reading.

Real-Time Amp-Hour Counting

The 500A shunt tracks charging and discharging current and calculates the amp-hours flowing in and out of the battery. A separate field-installed sense wire reads voltage directly at the battery, so what you see on screen is what the battery is actually doing — not an estimate taken from somewhere down the circuit.

Accurate to 1%

Voltage and current are both measured to within ±1%. That accuracy is what makes the state-of-charge figure worth trusting when you're deciding whether to run the fridge another night or start the generator.

Works Across the Range

Compatible with lithium, lead-acid and nickel-metal hydride batteries, with a supply voltage range of 10–100V and a capacity range of 10–999Ah. That covers a single 100Ah 12V house battery through to a large 24V or 48V off-grid bank.

Digital LCD Display

Everything on one screen, with adjustable brightness. The monitor itself draws under 2mA with the screen off, under 20mA at 10% brightness and under 60mA at full brightness, so it isn't meaningfully adding to your overnight draw.

Mounting and Installation

The display mounts through a 106 x 81 x 18mm bracket with 95 x 70mm fixing points, and connects to the shunt via the supplied 3m shielded cable so you can put the screen where you'll actually see it. Bracket, screws, shunt holder and sense wire are all in the box. The monitor is rated IP20, so mount it inside the van, canopy or cabin where it's protected from moisture.
